Child, Adolescent & Adult Psychiatry

Experience + Compassion

40+ Years of Experience

After forty years in child, adolescent and adult psychiatry, each and every day is still an exciting and stimulating challenge, and a joy to work with young ones, their families and adults.

I specialize in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of complex cases; psychoanalytically-oriented psychotherapy of children, adolescents and adults; and psychopharmacology.

I have a particular interest in the care of persons from other cultural traditions, an outgrowth of my many years of clinical and research involvement with refugees from Southeast Asia, particularly Vietnam.

"It’s a privilege to work with children & their families, as well as adults, and play a role in their development.”

Specialties

CHILDREN

As the former Director of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Oregon Health & Science University’s Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, I bring decades of experience in diagnosing, treating and supporting children with complex psychological challenges.

ADOLESCENTS

Adolescents pose both a unique and rewarding opportunity, and it’s a privilege to help them navigate the complex challenges of this age and foster their growth. I bring decades of experience, as both the head and director of psychiatric departments in several children’s hospitals.

ADULTS

I bring 40+ years of experience in psychotherapy and counseling, as well as my own age and wisdom, to help adults navigate the challenges of life. My speciality is in medication management, but I particularly enjoy hearing how people’s life stories have evolved.
